Household Goods is hosting a Community Open House on Saturday, April 27, from 9:00am – 12 noon at 530 Main Street in Acton. Members of the surrounding communities are invited to stop by and get an inside look at how donations of household items travel from donors to the homes of families in need.
Each year Household Goods receives more than 50,000 donated items which in turn go to 2,500 families who would not otherwise have what they need to make a home. The organization relies on volunteers who receive, sort, and display the donated goods in a showroom. It is there where those in need can “shop” by appointment, free of charge, and take home essential items including furniture, kitchen items, linens, and more.
At the Open House, guests will be able to tour the building and enjoy refreshments. People always say, “you have to see it to believe it” – and this is a special opportunity for members of the community to see for themselves all the ways their donations of furniture and household items are essential to making a home for individuals and families in need.
