Gel plate printing is a low cost and accessible monotype printing process that is ideal for creating papers for collage, bookmaking, cards or journaling as well as a final art prints. This is a fun experimental process that yields unpredictable and exciting results.
Using a gel printing plate participants will learn best ways to apply acrylic paints and use a variety of tools for mark making, stenciling, masking and texturing to transfer onto papers. This process results in wonderful overlays of colors and patterns. We will experiment with a variety of papers including plain, pre-printed and other types of substrates. Students will have the opportunity to make and use their own stencils and mark-making tools. We will discuss the best methods for the care and feeding of their gel plates.
The separate materials fee covers the variety of papers and other tools for the class to try out. All levels of experience and curiosity are welcome!
