The West Concord Junction Cultural District Committee is organizing its first annual West Concord Porchfest on Sept. 21 from 1-5 p.m. (Rain date Sept. 22, same time.) What’s a porchfest? It’s an all-ages grassroots community music festival. (And it’s free.) Start at the Harvey Wheeler parking lot, where you’ll find a map as well as food from Concord Market and Reasons to be Cheerful. Embark on foot through the neighborhoods around Thoreau Elementary School to hear two dozen live acts, from blues and folk to classical and funk. Some of the participating houses will provide chairs; some will ask that you bring your own, or a blanket. Check out the website for a list of the bands and porches, and a downloadable map of where to go: http://westconcordporchfest.org. Hope to see you there.
