Do You Know How to Talk About Friendships with Your Child?

February 3, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

- Free

The Center for Parents and Teachers in collaboration with the Concord SEPAC (Concord and Concord-Carlisle Special Education Parent Advisory Council) invite parents and grandparents to learn from esteemed author Caroline Maguire, ACCG, PCC, M.Ed., on the topic of children’s friendships and the development of social skills. This presentation is for parents of children from the very young to those children in their mid twenties. Social skills can be learned at all ages! “Why Will No One Play with Me?” is a question every parent fears having to answer, yet one that has become more prevalent with each generation. Whether you are the parent of a child with learning differences, social integration issues, one that is a victim of bullying or even the parent of a child navigating the seemingly simple process of growing up, there has never been a greater need for a go-to resource that provides parents with the tools to help their children navigate the challenges of social interactions. In this presentation, Caroline introduces audiences to the tools they need to become their child’s (or student’s) social skills coach. Caroline shares her proven strategies, outlined in her book “Why Will No One Play With Me?: The Play Better Plan to Help Children of All Ages Make Friends and Thrive”,
teaching parents how to coach their child through executive function skill-building sessions (as it relates to the social realm). Caroline’s successful “Play Better Plan” is a three-part program where children make noticeable progress while building confidence and enjoying a more satisfying social life. Her book will be available for purchase that evening.
