Weaving on an old fashion loom is joyful, gratifying, contemplative; it’s the perfect antidote to our busy lives. Join me in my Weaving as Meditation workshop to discover this ancient, ancestral craft, to reconnect with yourself and to slow down.
In this two hour workshop you will create a simple handweaving and learn breathing and mindfulness techniques.
Weaving is a slow rhythmic process. As our hands engage with the loops our mind can become quiet from our conscious stream of thoughts. Weaving and Meditation are tools for daily self care. My intention is that you leave this workshop feeling refreshed and empowered with a new set of skills to help you create a sense of calm beauty in your world.
–One 7 x 7 metal loom and enough cotton loops to make two handweavings.
–Instruction on how to handweave.
–Teaching on breathing and mindfulness techniques.
–A finished handweaving and the deep satisfaction of making something by hand.
Kate Kilmurray is passionate about helping people slow down to find stillness, spaciousness, and a connection with one’s creative spirit. She loves using her hands to drop into a deeper knowing through weaving and mediation.
