The Center for Parents and Teachers invites all interested adults to a free 3 part workshop “Raising Safe and Confident Teenagers in These Turbulent Times”. (Open to all, especially relevant to parents who have high school and middle school age children — and also very helpful for parents of younger children who are interested in preparing ahead!)
Presented by Rick Irving, MSW, who gave a very popular seminar for parents last spring at CMS, this workshop series will be held every two weeks, for a total of three sessions. This multi-session format allows participants to learn new techniques, try them out at home and return with questions, comments to share and a chance to learn new material.
Specific topics will include: How teens experience stress and where it comes from, from their perspective; How parents can be comforting and still have their kids move forward; How to listen therapeutically, how to talk therapeutically; How to keep doors of communication open; how not to rush in but be present and guiding. You will leave with ideas and language to help you feel more confident as a parent of a teen/pre-teen.
This series is being offered free of charge but pre-registration helps us better plan materials and space. Please sign up at the CPT website (www.centerforparentsandteachers.org) or at
