The Concord Free Public Library (CFPL) invites the Concord community to celebrate National Library Week, an annual celebration of libraries. This year, National Library Week runs from April 4 through April 10.

This year’s National Library Week theme is “Welcome to Your Library” and focuses on all the incredible services and programs libraries have to offer their communities beyond books. The CFPL is thrilled that it has been able to provide so many non-traditional services and programs over the years, in keeping with the CFPL “tradition of innovation and excellence.” Some of these services include the Library of Things – a collection of technology toys and tools for the community to borrow – free digital access to the New York Times for Concord patrons, the Seed Lending Library, and more. The Library has also facilitated a great deal of innovative programs, including the Concord chapter of Girls Who Code, 3D printing classes, and “pop up” storytimes in the Children’s Room.

Of course, this year’s National Library Week theme also acknowledges the inescapable effect of COVID-19 on the communities libraries serve. The CFPL is thrilled that despite the challenges of the past year, it has been able to provide broad virtual programming for children, teens, and adults, as well as continue many services the community relies on, such as borrowing materials, complimentary printing, 3D printing, and craft kits. Much of what the Library has offered during this unusual time, such as Contactless Curbside Pickup, has been so popular we are considering continuing these services even after the Library has fully reopened.
