Celebrate Arbor Day with the Concord Free Public Library

April 28, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

- Free

The Concord Free Public Library (CFPL) is pleased to offer the community free native tree seedlings to celebrate Arbor Day this year and to help mitigate the effects of climate change. The Library has partnered with Concord’s Director of Sustainability and the Concord Highway and Grounds Superintendent to provide 150 seedlings between Wednesday, April 28 and Friday, April 30. There will be 50 sugar maple seedlings, 50 tulip tree seedlings, and 50 redbud tree seedlings. The seedlings will be available for pickup at the Sudbury Street entrance of the Main Library and at the Fowler Branch, and the pickup time may change based on shipping times of the seedlings – stay up to date with the latest information by visiting our social media channels online.

The seedlings will be bare-root, about 6 to 12 inches tall, and will require immediate attention, so patrons who are interested in planting a seedling will need to be prepared to support the seedlings’ survival. The Library will make print guides available on the seedling pickup table.

The Library is thrilled to support the Town of Concord in its reforestation efforts, participate in the global effort to restore biodiversity, and help mitigate climate change. This opportunity is possible thanks to the CFPL’s stipend from the ALA Resilient Communities: Libraries Respond to Climate Change pilot program.
