“Beastie” Weekend Watercolor Opening

April 29 - April 30

- Free

The “Beasties” are back!
Artisans Way, a fine art and contemporary craft gallery in Concord, MA, welcomes watercolorist Mike Driscoll on April 29 and 30. He will be in the gallery Saturday from 10-6 and Sunday from 12-5 featuring his collection of colorful characters known as “Beasties” and introducing a new line of large prints. Mike will answer questions about his inspirations, techniques, and artistic vision. Aside from his playful “Beastie” creatures, he also paints New England scenes and landscapes. Included in the scope of his work are fields, mountains, woods and lake images.
In addition, there will be a “Name That Beastie” contest throughout the weekend. Visitors will be asked to enter a name for Driscoll’s currently unnamed new beastie. The person with the winning submission will be awarded their choice of a small Beastie print or 6 greeting cards from Driscoll’s extensive card collection.
Originally from Massachusetts, Mike Driscoll is a graduate of the Art Institute of Boston. For more than 35 years, he was an illustrator and storyboard artist. During his career he headed the Illustration Department at Hill Holliday Advertising in Boston. He then went on to a freelance career with his own studio on Clarendon Street in Boston.
Mike is now retired and paints watercolors, runs a small frame shop, and does the occasional illustration assignment, with a specialty in caricature. He is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association and the Deerfield, NH Art Tour, an open studios event held every October.
Mike Driscoll’s watercolors will be 10% off all weekend (April 29 & 30) at Artisans Way, 18 Walden Street in Concord. Call 978-369-4400 or visit https://www.artisansway.net/events for more information.
