Brooke Lambert is a printmaker and painter whose work is largely influenced by the emotions and memories of the ocean and other natural environments. In her art she shares these moments of happiness and hope: the floating shadows you see submerged underneath a wave, the red tinge behind your eyelids while lifting your face to the sun, the pattern of a honeycomb or a fishing net, and all the beautiful shapes, forms, and color in nature. In our current climate, she feels strongly that it is important to share these moments of brightness, new life, and hope.

Lambert’s primary medium is collagraph printing, in which she builds low-relief plates that she then inks and runs through a printing press, creating embossed paper prints that invoke the textures and shapes of fishing ropes, leaves, and netting. She then paints the prints, adding rich, luminous color.

In her Artist Demo, Lambert will talk about her printmaking process to build, print, and paint her collagraphs, her view and outlook as an artist, and her artistic practice and journey. Her talk will include a hands-on printmaking demo and an artist talk including a video.
